About the Building

Capri South Beach was built in 2008 and designed by Kobi Karp, one of South Florida’s most prolific architects. The project consists of three buildings of varying sizes, side by side on Biscayne Bay, within the urban fabric of South Beach. The northernmost building is a historic midcentury hotel edifice designed by seminal South Florida architect Igor Polevitzky, which has been given a classically contemporary interior, while the other two buildings are contemporary structures. Together, the architecture of the three structures imitates the jaunty, sweeping sails of a yacht in nearby Biscayne Bay, caught in the wind.

Consisting of 69 residences total, Capri offers an Intimate pool and jacuzzi overlooking Biscayne Bay, a private spa facility, a 24-hour attended lobby, valet, private boat slips, and an underground parking garage. Impressively for such an intimate project, Capri offers a whopping 500-feet of bay frontage, with an incorporated bay walk.

Capri’s unique master plan incorporates two existing streets that extend all the way to the bay, preserving bay views for the neighborhood while giving Capri residents the feeling of living in the walkable, urban fabric more completely than almost any other residential project in Miami Beach. Meanwhile, the underground parking garage enhances the connection to the waterfront while respecting the scale established by the surrounding neighborhood.

Unlike many other residential projects which are fortresses against the city, Capri’s defining feature is perhaps its neighborhood integration. Within walking distance of Capri are many of the riches that South Beach has to offer, including Flamingo Park and the famed Lincoln Road pedestrian mall. Dining options include the hole-in-the-wall Panizza Bistro, an informal eatery with authentic Argentinian, Italian, and Spanish pasta and tapas. Or take the new pedestrian bridge to local favorite Sunset Harbour, with its eclectic mix of retail and dining options, including True Loaf Bakery with its Parisian cafe-style setting, and Panther Coffee, an ironically Miamian coffee destination where beans are roasted on site.
